Heavy Ursulmas Championship
The greatest honor is won in single combat upon the field of battle. With the faith of their inspirations, under the eyes of the nobility, these warriors will do battle and win glory. They will face their worthy opponents, and their victory will be all the sweeter when it is hard-won.


Master Sean's True Art of Defense Tournament
This shall be a pas d'armes (passage of arms) inspired tournament. It will be a Judged Accolade tournament, in a round-robin format. To win a round the combatant must strike their opponent with a blow that, as judged by the Provost of the field, the opponent was not able to counter or defend.

For the purpose of this tourney, arms and legs shall not be considered debilitating. (Since arms shots are not debilitating, I would like to encourage the use of open hand, or cloak with out fear of giving up any advantage.) Preferred forms shall be Open Hand, Cloak, Dagger, and Buckler. Other forms may be used if approved by the Provosts. After the tourney, all participants (Combatants, Provost, Marshals, Lists persons, et al), shall be asked who they thought best demonstrated the ideals of this tournament. The winner shall be the one with the most votes. Any ties shall be settled based on number of wins.

Come one! Come all! Come see the elders of An Tir stagger onto the field! Cheer as they slowly limp towards each other! Do not expect the field to be bloodless, for these warriors have accumulated many scores to settle over the years; old swordsmen get that way not just by being very good, but by never leaving an enemy alive!


Vicis Proeliator Conflictus

Warriors throughout the ages, you have been chosen to represent your era and culture upon the field of honor! Arm yourselves appropriately, for only warriors wearing those glitteringly-fine armors of period and carrying the truest weapons of their time will be selected to advance the noble cause of authenticity within this great Kingdom.

To participate in the Vicis Proeliator Conflictus, a prospective fighter's kit must withstand the rigorous scrutiny of three learned gentles, skilled in the fine art and sciences of periodicity. Those that remain standing will then be invited to give a brief description of their persona, explaining what steps were required in order to make their armor SCA legal while still retaining the authenticity that is the goal in our fine society.

Examples of automatic disqualifications may include (but are not limited to): Modern footwear, basket hilts, visible plastic, and persona incorrect gear.

However, the purpose of the Vicis Proeliator Conflictus is to celebrate authenticity, foster new ideas, and inspire creativity, not to promote exclusion. To this end, fighters that make an attempt at a period kit but do not pass the initial judging will still be invited to fight in this tournament, though they will be asked to withdraw prior to the final four.
